As each year concludes, I look back as TGC’s editor-in-chief on the videos, articles, conference messages, and books we released. Nothing is more encouraging in my role than reviewing the work of our editors and producers to feature various facets of God’s activity in and around the world. For the last three years I’ve devoted much of my energy toward building The Gospel Coalition Podcast Network. In 2022, several podcast episodes emerged on my list of best media. I’ll never forget talking to young journalist Jonathan Tjarks shortly before he died. The farewell season of Let’s Talk featured its most popular episode, a discussion about how to respond when friends walk away from the faith. Meanwhile, the Recorded podcast with Sarah Zylstra covered everything from social media to video games to secular Scotland. But maybe the most important story TGC has ever covered is Sarah’s report on the underground church in Afghanistan and their leaders’ attempted escape from the Taliban. It’s not the kind of story you’ll see in mainstream media. We hope, however, it’s the kind of report you’ve come to expect from TGC as we apply the gospel to all of life and advance the gospel to all the world. Toward that end, we’re planning several new podcasts and special seasons for 2023. You’ll learn women’s perspectives from around the world. You’ll get insightful cultural commentary from two friends in London. And you’ll hear some of your favorite teachers, including John Piper, in a special season of my Gospelbound podcast. If you want to hear more good news in 2023, you can help with a financial contribution to TGC before the end of 2022. Your support encourages millions around the world to follow Jesus amid trials of various kinds. Thank you for listening and sharing the good news with us. |
