Accuracy Defined and Illustrated. An NIV Translator Answers Your Questions

Written by Kenneth L. Barker Reviewed By Richard S. Hess

This is the first of two short works designed to justify the niv translation in comparison with others by explaining why wording was chosen in 50 OT and 101 NT passages. In most examples there is first presented the disputed niv passage with alternative translations. This is followed by a brief statement of the issue in the form of a question and then a paragraph or two of simple and clear explanation as to why the niv translation was chosen. Several brief appendices deny homosexual and New Age connections with the translation and explain why the ‘Textus Receptus’ was not used for the NT. Although written for the layperson, footnotes and nine pages of bibliography allow the interested reader to pursue issues in greater detail.
