I’d been wanting to get the audiobook of Desiring God so it was a nice surprise to see the offer in my twitter stream this morning.
It’s also worth noting that for the next few weeks the audio versions of all John pipers other books are only $5 each http://christianaudio.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=john%20piper&sort=audiobook&display=50
What’s up with that guy’s reading voice? Who could stand to listen to a book length reading of that?!
Brian, Grover is one of the best narrators Christian Audio uses. His voice is like a cool breeze on a hot summer day. I have listened to a lot of his narrations and never get tired of his voice.
No argument here. I just meant that he sounded unnatural. Almost stiff and well, not to mean spirited, but what one would expect for a “religious reading”, if that makes any sense.
No argument here either. I was just being sarcastic, although I do enjoy his voice. Didn’t mean to come off the wrong way. Cheers!
It would be great to get an audio version of Desiring God read by Piper himself. Now that would be awesome to listen to.

I have to echo Brian, the narrator is grating to me, personally.
I want to echo what Mike Riccardi said. I have long desired that Piper himself do an audio narration of Desiring God. His voice is so much easier to listen to, and his own empathy and passion would shine. It’s his most important book. Why not?
Thank you to all at Desiring God for all that you do!
Actually, I think Pleasures of God is more foundational. DG flows naturally from it. I’ve heard JP say this. Plus I like it better, so I know I’m right.
